The Hacky Sack Club

Feb 02, 2012 Uncategorized 28 comments

Today you are all in for a surprise. My first ever vlog.

Here’s the deal. Amy Sonnichsen (of The Green Bathtub) and I had this crazy idea of forming a Hackey Sack Club. She posted the sensational YouTube video of old Chinese people singing Lady Gaga and somehow in our back and forth conversation that led to Hacky Sacks. And because we’re so cool, we had to form a club, because that’s what cool people do. So anyway, for your viewing pleasure:

After seeing my mad skillz, I know you’re all dying to join the club, so go. Make your video, or even just post a picture, then find the badge below or on my sidebar and add it to your blog. Let us know and as long as supplies last, we’ll send you a hacky sack.

UPDATE! For updated rules to enter, check out this post.

Because I say “Boo! Boo to the loneliness that is writing!”

I look forward to seeing what on earth you are talking about when I get home as I'm at work today! LOL!

    Take care

  2. Oh my goodness, Janet. You kill me! You have INSANE hackey sack skills! I want to be part of the club but I have to figure out where on earth to get a hackey sack.

  3. Someone is going to get hurt. And that isn't a sack, it's some kind of weird ball.

  4. You were getting better and better, girl. I'm impressed. And maybe a little intimidated. : )

  5. Fun idea. But I'm older and creakier than you are. Could I make balloon animals instead–something that doesn't require fancy footwork?? πŸ™‚

  6. I think we might be able to work balloon animals into this club somehow, Laurel. We're all about flexibility!

And Melissa, we can mail you the hacky sack! No worries! πŸ™‚

Janet, as you know, I'm seriously impressed with you. You are so much more coordinated than I am. If you all are intimidated, just watch my video and you won't be anymore. LOL!

    HACKY SACK CLUB FOREVER!

  7. You have totally intimidated me with your mad skills! I will not be able to join the hacker sack club until I can at least hit the hacker sack once. I may or may to be left or right footed or most probably neither πŸ™‚ But I love that you equate playing hacker sack with writing πŸ™‚ Boo to the loneliness!!!!!!!! And thanks for that very inspiring video πŸ™‚

  8. Jess says:

This is awesome~ love the vlog! And your skills are undeniable! Can I tell you a secret? One of the deepest desires of my heart used to be that I would dominate the world of competitive hacky sacking. Unfortunately, I'm just no good at it (I think my all-time record is four in a row) πŸ™‚

  9. HAHAHAHA–you girls are too cute and silly for words! Um there are no hacky sacks (or coordination skills) in my future!

  10. janet says:

I'm thinking we could work in the balloon animals thing. Idea now spinning in my head . . .

  11. I had no idea what hackey sacking was (but had heard of it). I don't think I'm coordinated enough to do that, but it was fun to watch. πŸ™‚

  12. Love this! I came over from Amy's blog. You guys are adorable. I'll have to find a way to video…

  13. Old Kitty says:

    Ok!!!! LOL!!!

Well I am most impressed!! Unfortunately I have absolutely no coordination whatsoever so any attempt would be hilarious for me! LOL!

At least now I know what a hackey sack is and what to do with one if I ever stumble across these things! πŸ™‚

    Take care

  14. I came over from Amy's. You two are great fun. I see that with Amy, it's all about the warm-ups, and with you, the key is a proper outfit. You kicked it a few more times than Amy, so I think that the outfit may be most effective. I can't do that hackysack thingy for beans, but my friend and I are practicing handstand, so maybe we'll video that πŸ™‚

  15. I didn't know what hackey sack was before–looks like fun. πŸ™‚

  16. Myrna Foster says:

Wow. You're actually good at it.

I make a killer (not really) balloon octopus, if you do go that route, that I could maybe do a video of. I've never really made a video of myself before.

  17. Carolyn V says:

Awesome hacky-sacking! I would totally break my ankle doing that thing (even just looking at it…I'm that good). =)

  18. Amie Kaufman says:

I literally can't kick one twice in a row… it's a whole different sort of entertainment for those around me!

  19. Hahaha I can't play hacky sack to save my life, but I'll be your one girl cheering squad. πŸ˜‰

  20. Beth says:

I love it! I knew you were talented but this blew me away!

  21. Yeah, I wish I could do this. I wish I trusted myself enough to STAND ON ONE LEG long enough to do this. Sigh. I commend you both and you definitely have insane hacky sack skills.

  22. ok i would fall on my arse – you are so good!

  23. Hacky sack used to be a big thing with the kids, when my son was younger. I've tried it before, miserably failing at it, LOL.

  24. I am impressed. And what a fun video.

  25. Lydia Kang says:

Very nice! My mom, who grew up in Korea, is really good at hacky sack. I used to be in awe of her when I was a kid!

  26. I totally suck at hacky sack.

Wow, I didn't know I had such talented blogging buddies. πŸ˜€

  27. LTM says:

I was worried about you there at first, CUF. But you got three good hits in on the Chinese one!

Yes, writing is terribly lonely. Here's looking forward to March! :o)

(does this mean I'm in the club???)

  28. I'd suck at hacky sack. My coordination is so off, it's not even funny.
