La la la la la! I Can’t Hear You.

Mar 26, 2012 Uncategorized 14 comments

I feel like I’m one of the few people who did not get to go see The Hunger Games this weekend. Even my brother went to the Midnight Opening . . . my brother!

So today, knowing that there will be a wash of blog posts and tweets exclaiming how much they loved it, I am simply going to plug my ears and pretend I can’t hear you.

Because even though I may have read the books, I don’t want to hear too much about the movie before I’ve seen it. I like to be surprised.

It’s an -ism. I totally admit that.

I’m the same way with books. I don’t want to hear anything beyond the blurb before I read. Unlike my mom who actually skips to the end to read that first. Crazy.

So how about you? Do you read the ending first? Or do you  prefer the blank slate method?

*Puts hands in the air and admits to the guilty pleasure of scrolling through to the end of a novel cos the story is soooooooooo good I just HAVE to know what happens*. Ahem!

    Take care

omg! yes yes yes! I'm the exact same way, and the problem is I'm waiting to see it w/the book club I started in so-Ala. It was the first book we read, and since I'm visiting those guys next week, we're all going to see it together. Well, those of us who can stand to wait–LOL!

la la la la la!!! πŸ˜€

  3. Slamdunk says:

Ha, I never read the ending first; I'd feel like I cheated the author or something…

  4. I am totally with you Janet! I didn't see it this weekend either, but am hoping to go this afternoon with my daughter and her friend! I am ignoring all related posts (except this one because we're on the same wavelength :)) And I NEVER read the end first!

  5. I didn't mean to see the movie this weekend, but it just kind of happened – in a mostly empty theater at that. It was so la la la la la la!

No, I never skip ahead in a novel to peak at the ending. I never read the last page in the bookstore. I never ask about the ending before reading the book. I want to experience the story the way the author intended. I hesitate when someone asks me about the ending of a novel, because I feel they should read to it.

  6. I never read the ending first. That feels like cheating!
I did see the movie–twice–this weekend so I'll keep my mouth shut and, warning, my blog post is about it, so don't visit yet!

  7. I want to be surprised. It's a big thing for me.

  8. I'm covering my ears, too! I have to wait until this weekend to see it, so I'm trying to avoid HG posts. πŸ™‚

I like to be surprised, and I haven't seen the movie either.

  10. I haven't seen it, either, and I don't care at this point. I'm kind of sick of hearing about it, to be honest. (Not from you, just from all the hyper people.) LOL! How's that for cynical? πŸ™‚

  11. Carolyn V says:

I only read the ending when I can't stand the middle. (That's so bad!!!) *blushing*
But honestly, that's only happened a few times.

  12. I haven't gotten the chance to see it yet either but I'm happy that most of the reviews are positive. I'd be dissapointed to hear anything negative.

  13. Blank slate method! Oh, when are you seeing it? I want you to see it NOW!!! I'm dragging my husband to see it tomorrow. It's my second time and not fair if I've seen it twice yet you haven't been once.

  14. MikeS says:

Never, ever, never do I read the any book (except scriptures and reference books) in any order other than to start at page 1 and continue numerically.

Oh and I do so want to hear what you thought of the movie should you ever find time to see it.
